You've been working on a great press release to send to your PR company or newswire in Microsoft Word and want to add it to your Concrete5 website.
You just copy and paste right? Wrong!
Why can't I copy and paste from Word?
Technically you can copy straight from Microsoft Word into the WYSIWYG editor. However, we cannot guarantee that when you publish your edits the styling will be correct to be consistent with the website.
The reason for this is down to how Microsoft codes word documents and some of this code being copied across into the editor and then being read by the browser.
What if I use the 'Paste from Word' icon in the WYSWYG editor?
Again, this may work in some cases but depending on the styling you copy from Word it may not be 100% accurate.
To ensure everything you copy over remains consistent with the website styling we recommend the option below.
So what is the best way to paste content from Word?
Remember
Font style, size and colour etc is all handled by the template so you should never need to change the size, colour or font style when within the CMS.
Our recommended method to paste content from Word is to first open a program called 'Notepad' which is standard on almost every type of computer available on the market. Copy all of your text into Notepad and then copy it into the WYSIWYG editor.
This was all of the styling/code is removed and you are left with the raw text on its own.
You can then paste it into the WYSIWYG editor and style using heading styles, bullets, bold, italic etc.
